New Facebook

Sad to say but it looks as though the new Facebook is here to stay. Recently compete.com did a survey to find the amount of users who switched from the old facebook to the new and the results baffled me. In the past month over 50 million users, which is about half of the entire Facebook, have switched to the new format. I thought that facebook was suppose to be for people to interact, now that big industries are developing ways to market their products on it it is becoming a platform for companies to advertise. I suppose it is the chain of events, something becomes successful then big industries find out how to make money off of it. Unfortunately anybody who liked the old Facebook is out of luck. Facebook has made it impossible to be friends with someone who does not have the most up to date version. Facebook really shows how much social media is a part of ours and companies' lives. It is unfortunate though that something that starts out as a simple idea to help the little guy gets abused by the man.

I agree with you. I hate the new Facebook, but I didn't even have a say about which one I wanted. I signed on one day to find the new layout had replaced the familiar welcome screen I have seen for the past three years. As sad as this sounds, I feel like a chapter of my life is over since the old Facebook is gone now.

While talking about the old Facebook, I remember when only college students could get an account. Then high schoolers were able to get one... now anyone. I was talking to a mom the other day and she said she has an account to keep tabs on her college-aged children. Facebook has gone beyond being a social network and has become the new big brother.

I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT STAND THE NEW FACEBOOK! And to be honest with you, I don't know why such a successful social media site would "re-invent" the wheel. There was nothing wrong with the old facebook! Now I can't even tell who writes on my wall half the time!

I think that Mark Zuckerburg made a big mistake with this move. I have not talked to one single person who seems to favor the new model over the old one! I hope that there are enough people out there who feel the same way I do, and something can be done to help right this issue!

Vany out!
